Learn Now – Cook Better – Forever

Learning how to cook is an investment in a life skill that will save you time and money. It will give you and those you care for, access to improved health and well being for the rest of your life. It is a skill that you can share and teach others.

The Elizabeth Peddey School of Cookery and Gastronomy offers a variety of specialist cooking classes throughout the year. These classes are generally delivered for beginner and less confident cooks in mind.

The classes are intended for home cooks wanting to master a particular skill or a particular dish. Generally these classes are presented by Elizabeth, however Elizabeth also occasionally invites guests to co – present with. These presenters have particular skills such as in bread making or pastry making. The material in these classes is suitable for less confident cooks and cooking knowledge in the area is not assumed unless stated otherwise. Overall class material is suitable for everyone who wants to learn to cook or to become a better cook.

Cooking classes are taught from Elizabeth’s home kitchen in Elwood, where the school is located. We do not use scary industrial equipment and there is no attempt to emulate restaurant style dining and fussy food. The larger Slow Ferment Sourdough MasterClasses differ in that we do walk down to Greg Dee’s close by Elwood Sourdough Bakery to bake the loaves we have shaped and proven in class.

Participants can expect to gain knowledge, skills and confidence in re-producing the material we cover in class at home. Sometimes it will take some practice to get to the level that you want. Generally there is telephone and messaging support available after classes.

In the classes we only use the finest ingredients. You are supplied with a booklet detailing the recipes and material and resources covered in class.

You will love the friendly atmosphere and the relaxed style of the school that pivots on a generous hospitality and supportive environment for learning in.

The school relocates to the south of Italy in June and September. We base ourselves on the Cilento coast in Campania and we offer small group Italian tours and cooking classes with an emphasis on an appreciation of the Mediterranean Diet and Lifestyle.
