Tomato Day!

Have you ever wondered what those Italian families get up to on so called ‘Tomato Day’?

Sunday 4th March, 2018 from 1030am

$75 per person + extra for jars if necessary

$24 for 6 jars if not supplying your own.

Why not come and learn some skills for yourself so that you can run your  very own tomato day for your household?
Join Elizabeth Peddey in the processes of preserving and bottling whole tomatoes, making a Tomato Sugo and a to die for Tomato Relish.  You will have your very own private stash of the most delicious bottled products to draw upon throughout the year.

What you will learn:

An overview of the care and management of the kitchen work space on Tomato Day

Care and management of basic kitchen equipment such as chopping boards, knives, sterilisation equipment, jars and lids

The sterilisation process

How to use a vegetable mouli

How to bottle whole tomatoes

How to make a simple Tomato Sugo

How to make a delicious Tomato Relish (this recipe is not shared I am afraid!)

What is included:

A clean apron is supplied for each participant

All ingredients and cooking equipment are provided

Note paper

Print copy of recipes in a booklet

A delicious light lunch

Hands on learning – participate at what ever level you like

6 jars of a mixture of bottled Whole Tomatoes, Tomato Relish and Tomato Relish

What You Need to Know

Please wear closed flat shoes for the class.

Adjustments may be made for some Food Allergies and Intolerances, some classes however will always be unsuitable.

Please advise Elizabeth when contacting her of any special food needs that you have

Please bring 6 jars either Fowlers Vacola with new lids, bands and clips or Quattro Stagioni or Ball and Mason jars with new lids 500m – 1litre volume.

Jars can be provided at the additional cost of $24 for 6.  Please pay this at the time of booking if required.
